About Blue Bay
Many assume the name Blue Bay comes from the bay’s blue waters, but it was known as Blaauwbaai before 1700, named after owner Anno Blaauw, who grew limes, oranges, and indigo dye.
The plantation changed hands over the years and was even looted by French pirates in the 1800s. In the 20th century, the Jacobs family owned it and turned it into a farm. During World War II, American soldiers used it to fire on German submarines.
In 1990, a local group acquired the land and began development. By 1997, Steve Raspoort saw its potential and transformed it into a resort with a golf course. After his death in 2007, his family continued his vision. Today, Blue Bay is a renowned destination in Curaçao and the Caribbean.
